Job Description: Staff Accountant
FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer
** JOB SUMMARY**
The Staff Account’s major responsibility is to keep clear and accurate records on all financial and physical operations connected to the School and to communicate all relevant information to the Director of Finance. The Staff Accountant maintains strict confidentiality about the many official and unofficial business actions and discussions pertaining to the School.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Accounting
● Assist the Director of Finance in operating The Pine School’s business office using Blackbaud NXT and Tuition Management Accounting Software which handles fund account procedures following the guidelines of our auditor.
● Work with all programs that generate income: Parents’ Association, Extended Day, Summer, Camps, Bus Transportation, annual giving, capital campaign, etc.
● Generate weekly accounts receivable/aging listing for collection control.
● Follow up on all delinquent accounts per direction from the Director.
● Receive and post all cash receipts to correct income accounts.
● Physically bring all cash deposits daily to the correct bank. Remotely deposit checks daily from the desktop scanner.
Bank Reconciliation
Audit
● Assist the Director in the preparation of all schedules asked for in advance of the audit. This may include more than 30 schedules, which may include Accounts Receivable/Student Billing Aging, Accounts Payable Aging, Prepaid Insurance Schedule, Schedule of Advance Enrollment Deposits,etc.
● During the Audit, work closely with the auditors to supply all the information they need in order to complete an audit of our fiscal year in a timely manner.
** QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS**
● Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
● Combination of education and experience may be accepted.
● Strong math, typing and computer skills, especially with accounting software.
● Excellent communication, research, problem solving, and time management skills.
● High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
● Attention to detail.
● Technologically savvy and detail oriented.
● Ability to build relationships with staff and school families. Able to work collegially and collaboratively with a team.
