Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position reports directly to the Director of Tax and Compliance and plays a key role in managing accounts payable, payroll tax compliance, and general accounting functions. The Staff Accountant will work closely with both internal teams and external clients, requiring strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Success in this role depends on a commitment to teamwork, relationship building, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity in financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- - Accounts Payable:
- - Review and verify invoices for accuracy and proper authorization
- - Process and issue AP checks and electronic payments
- - Maintain vendor records and resolve discrepancies
Payroll Tax Management:
- - Make timely payroll tax payments to federal, state, and local agencies
- - Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and ensure compliance with tax regulations
- - Assist with quarterly and annual payroll tax filings -
General Accounting Duties:
- - Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., bank accounts, benefits, taxes)
- - Enter and apply cash receipts accurately
- - Manage and reconcile corporate credit card expenses
- - Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- - Support audits and provide documentation as needed
Qualifications:
- - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- - 0–2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role
- - Strong understanding of GAAP and payroll tax regulations
- - Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Sage) and Microsoft Excel
- - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- - Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Skills :
- - Experience with payroll systems
- - Familiarity with ERP systems
- - CPA or working toward certification is a plus
