Staff Accountant

Core Function
The Staff Accountant is responsible for recording day-to-day financial transactions. This role involves heavy data entry from source documents and ensuring all transactions are accurately posted to the accounting software.
Core Responsibilities
- Transaction Management: Recording daily bank transactions, coding cash receipts, and reconciling bank statements.
- General Ledger & Accruals: Preparing monthly entries for payroll accruals, deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, and depreciation. Maintaining the fixed assets schedule.
- Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile all assigned balance sheet accounts, including prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets, to ensure data integrity. Ability to conduct root cause analysis to solve discrepancies and propose process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business with 2+ years of experience.
- Non-profit accounting experience is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Abila – MIP , Checkwriters, Quicken, and Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint.
- Ability to establish and analyze data metrics for regulatory compliance.
- Key Competencies: Strong arithmetic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The role requires meeting strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
