Multi-Location Fitness Company The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, the monthly close process, financial reporting, and various internal and external audits. This role requires a proactive and analytical thinker with strong technical accounting knowledge and a passion for accuracy. Responsibilities: Financial Accounting and Compliance Journal Entries and Reconciliation: • Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, payroll, and other financial transactions. • Reconcile general ledger accounts with bank statements to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records. Fixed Asset Management: • Maintain fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation to track and manage fixed assets effectively. • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to provide a comprehensive overview of the company’s financial performance. Close Activities and Reporting: • Support month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data. • Assist in the reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable to identify any discrepancies and ensure timely payments. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management: • Review and code vendor invoices to ensure proper classification and approval of payments. • Process payments via check, ACH, and wire transfers to facilitate efficient financial transactions. • Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collections efforts to recover outstanding debts. • Ensure accurate application of customer payments and resolve any discrepancies promptly. Reporting and Compliance: • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as requested by management to provide insights and data-driven decision-making. • Assist with audits by preparing supporting documentation and reconciliations to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. • Support tax filings, including 1099s, sales/use tax, and other compliance filings to ensure timely and accurate tax obligations. Accounting Records and GAAP Compliance: • Maintain organized and updated accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). • Process Improvement Systems: • Participate in the transition and implementation of new accounting software and tools to enhance operational efficiency and streamline financial processes. • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to optimize workflows and reduce errors. Qualifications: Education: • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is mandatory. • CPA or CPA track certification is preferred. Experience: • 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting or industry is required. • Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation is essential. • Familiarity with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other accounting software is beneficial. Skills: • Proficient in GAAP and accounting principles. • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Skilled in using Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas). • Strong written and verbal communication abilities. • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Compensation: $20 - $30 hourly
