Wichita Collegiate School (WCS) is looking for a Staff Accountant who is eager to learn and who is computer proficient. This position offers a relaxed work environment in a supportive educational setting where you can make a meaningful impact on our school's financial operations.
The primary responsibilities include, but not limited to: Review of A/R and A/P Transactions
Approve invoices for payment that align with the operational budget
Manage general ledger recording of family tuition payments
Track daily cash positions of incoming and outgoing funds
Bank Reconciliation
Record miscellaneous bank activity with attention to detail
Perform monthly bank account reconciliations
Prepare Monthly Financial Statements
Prepare and post various month-end journal entries
Manage financial statement reporting structure
Participate in the delivery of financial information in committee meetings
Budget Planning Process
Participate in the budget planning and allocation process
Meet with budget owners to review transaction details and the budget to actual performance
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a related field. Ideal candidates demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, including basic knowledge of formulas and data manipulation
Computer literacy in basic dataset modeling and the software data import/export process
Previous accounting experience (school or nonprofit experience a plus)
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Work Environment: School hours are M-F, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. The primary work location is on campus. Our annual work schedule includes paid holidays and school breaks that align with school scheduling, well beyond the traditional corporate offering.
