Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Assistant to join our Washington, D.C.–based trade association. In this role, you will provide administrative, technical IT, and communications support across all teams. Additionally, this position supports major FCC events—including board meetings, national conferences, and member gatherings. Reporting to the Director of Administrative Operations, you will gain broad exposure to the inner workings of a leading trade association on Capitol Hill and enjoy valuable opportunities for professional learning and growth.

In addition to an annual bonus opportunity and competitive benefits, the salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 annually. Salary will be paid at an hourly rate. In addition to competitive pay and benefits, we operate on a hybrid schedule, currently allowing employees to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. On occasion, you may be asked to work early mornings, evenings, or on a weekend for FCC events. These are not common occurrences.
Job Responsibilities
Operations:
- Supports FCC events (board meetings, staff gatherings, and key organizational meetings such as the Farm Credit Annual Meeting, Farm Credit National Fly-in, System Attorney Conference, and more):
- Helps to build out conference registration platform (Cvent) for upcoming events, working with Director of Meetings and, when necessary, design team
- Assists with Cvent Passkey (travel and reservations) administration
- Monitors and confirms all registration payments and process any further invoicing as necessary
- Supports on-site registration processes
- Prepares name tent cards and other meeting materials in advance
- Sets up and restores meeting venues
- Assists with shipping and/or transporting meeting materials
- Assists with catering/food and beverage orders
- Monitors food and beverage consumption during meeting and replenishes as necessary
- Assists with IT and AV setup when necessary.
- Assists with reserving meeting space and scheduling of meetings.
- Inventories office supplies; places restocking orders, and stores supplies, as directed
- Prepares and receives shipments
- Assists employee onboarding and offboarding tasks, as directed
- Assists with IT as needed (professional IT support is available remotely)
- Makes phone calls or emails to verify employment of applicants for emergency assistance funding grants
- Maintains corporate files
- Completes business errands, as assigned
- Coordinates with property management staff, as directed
Communications:
- Maintains and manages the e-mail list, including opt-outs
- Maintains and manages FCC databases.
The Farm Credit Council is a small, collaborative, dynamic team. Staff members wear many hats and pitch in as necessary to get the collective job done.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- 1–2 years of relevant administrative, operations, or event support experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
- Experience with Cvent preferred.
- Ability and willingness to learn database, e-commerce, and e-newsletter software platforms
- Able to meet deadlines under pressure and adjust to changing priorities
- Able to maintain a consistently high level of productivity and accuracy
- Engages professionally and politely with board of directors, members, constituents
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
- Knowledge of the Congress, the administration and the political process preferred
- Organizational skills with attention to detail & high degree of accuracy required
- Interest in or experience with the agricultural industry preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Supports the core values and mission of the organization
