    About CMC

Founded in 2003, the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) is a group practice built on the principle that science and genuine respect for clients produce better outcomes than confrontation or compliance-based approaches for clients with substance use concerns. Our treatment model integrates motivational, behavioral, trauma-informed, and family-based interventions including Motivational Interviewing, CRAFT, Invitation to Change®, CBT, DBT, ACT, Prolonged Exposure, EMDR, STAIR, and Exposure and Response Prevention across individual, group, and family treatment modalities. Treatment is individualized and tailored to clients’ strengths, values, learning styles, co-occurring conditions, and stage of change.

    New York City, NY

    Description

The Center for Motivation and Change is looking for a licensed or license-eligible clinician to join our unique and exceptional practice.

    OUR MISSION:

-To provide comprehensive, cutting edge, research-supported treatment.

-To develop individualized plans based on clients’ circumstances and goals.

-To provide multiple paths and options for change (one size does not fit all).

-To allow for many different ending points based on client goals.

-To work with all clients considering change, regardless of readiness stage for change.

-To respect each client’s integrity, dignity and choice.

About You: You are well-versed in (or eager to learn!) evidence-based clinical approaches and interventions (e.g. MI, CBT, and substance abuse treatment as well as trauma/PTSD treatment, adolescent and family/couples work, vocational assessment, executive functioning). You are committed to personal and professional development, and will foster the same in your peers and clients alike. You are comfortable and open to meeting the needs of clients in person. You engage with peers and clients in a collaborative and curious manner and lean into approaching this meaningful work with willingness, vulnerability and good humor!

About the Work: CMC clinicians work in a collaborative, stimulating, and very supportive environment, providing individual and group therapy with the opportunity to provide couples and family treatment as well. Clinicians receive training and weekly supervision in cutting edge, evidence-based approaches in the field of addiction and other compulsive behaviors, anxiety disorders, trauma, and other mental health conditions. Clinicians also have the opportunity to train in CRAFT and the Invitation to Change (ITC) approaches in order to help support family members and communities surrounding people who struggle with substance use. Weekly team meetings are designed to foster collaboration and provide compassion, support, and ongoing training to clinical staff. Additionally, outside experts provide regular training and opportunities for additional training in areas of interest (e.g. evidence-based trauma treatments, ACT, EXRP). Commitment: 80-100% time (32+ hours/week).
