    About Us: The only charitable pharmacy in northeastern Ohio, Beacon Charitable Pharmacy, provides comprehensive pharmacy care to a diverse population, many of whom are low-income, underinsured, or uninsured. As a vital resource for our community, we collaborate with numerous state, local, and community organizations to increase access to healthcare and address the needs of those who cannot afford their medications. Beacon will expand over the next year and is strategically located between local hospital systems and major highways. Beacon has the only charitable mobile unit in the state, Pharmacy on Wheels. It allows for increased visibility and accessibility to local as well as rural areas and other counties in Northeast Ohio.

    Position: Staff Pharmacist

    Location: Canton, OH

    Employment Type: Part Time 16 – 20 hours per week

    Position Summary and Responsibilities: The Staff Pharmacist provides essential pharmacy services to support Beacon’s mission of ensuring access to medications for underserved populations. This role requires a compassionate, patient-centered professional who is committed to improving health outcomes for individuals facing financial and healthcare barriers. The Casual Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications, counseling patients on safe and effective medication use, collaborating with healthcare providers, and maintaining compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations. In addition, the pharmacist will assist with inventory management, participate in community events, and support Beacon’s Pharmacy on Wheels mobile pharmacy initiative, reinforcing Beacon’s commitment to advancing health equity.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Review and dispense medications to eligible patients

    Counsel patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies

    Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes

    Assist with inventory management and compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations

    Participate in community events and health outreach initiatives

    Support the Pharmacy on Wheels mobile pharmacy initiative

    Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

    Required Qualifications:

    Active Ohio Pharmacist License (RPh)

    Experience in retail, hospital, or community pharmacy

    Passion for working with underserved populations

    Strong communication and problem-solving skills

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Preferred Qualifications

    PharmD

    Experience with Medication Therapy Management (MTM)

    Familiarity with charitable care or safety-net pharmacy models

    Bilingual or multilingual abilities (Spanish preferred)

    Experience with community outreach or public health initiatives

    Knowledge of pharmacy compliance requirements for nonprofit or charitable settings

    Schedule & Working Conditions

    Part-time position, 16–20 hours per week

    Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility for evening or weekend outreach events

    Includes frequent travel across Northeast Ohio and working from both mobile units and partner sites

    Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 35 pounds, and work in variable environments such as shelters or outdoor community events
