Staff Psychiatrist – VA Medical Center | Houston, TX

Job Description:
You will provide onsite psychiatric care to veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and affiliated outpatient clinics in Houston, TX. Care must meet national standards set by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

This role supports a high-demand federal program requiring consistent, high-quality mental health services.

Location Requirement:

• Must live within 90 miles of Houston, TX (MEDVAMC)
• No travel or relocation provided

Position Details:

• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Setting: Onsite VA Medical Center + CBOCs
• Contract: 1 year base with up to 5 years total

Compensation:

• Pay: $165–$180 per hour
• Weekly Gross: $6,600–$7,200
• Consistent hours
• Malpractice coverage provided

Responsibilities:

• Perform psychiatric evaluations and treatment
• Manage medications and treatment plans
• Document care in electronic health records
• Collaborate with VA clinical teams
• Maintain compliance with VA standards
