    Your Career

    We are the App-ID Team in the Content Delivered Security Service (CDSS) organization. We develop the content to power the Palo Alto Networks’s next generation firewall. The App-ID team is responsible for decoding network protocols, identifying applications and detecting evasive behavior and threats on enterprise customers’ networks.

    The team is responsible for innovating new application identification techniques. As a member of the team, you will work with researchers on implementing projects that apply different methods to identify applications. You will be a key person in transforming ideas into products which are part of the next generation security platform.

    Your Impact

    • Research protocols and develop protocol decoders
    • Research application behavior and write signatures for app identification
    • Research application behaviors and find solutions for app identification
    • Implement new methods for application identification
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Your Experience

    • Excellent understanding of common networking protocols such as HTTP, SSL, and FTP
    • Strong programming skills in Python, Java or Golang
    • Familiar with common tools like wireshark and tcpreplay
    • Experience or knowledge in ML/AI is a big plus
    • Hands on and can-do attitude, willing to learn new technologies
    • MS / PhD in computer science/engineering, or equivalent military experience required

    Compensation Disclosure

    The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $$117000 - $182500/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
