The Fuel Accounting position is responsible for reconciling inventory at multiple locations, closing out the monthly accounting period to report fuel inventory levels, and supporting the team in dispute resolution for contract issues.

Responsibilities:

• Compute, file, and pay the State Sales and Use Tax, the multiple State motor vehicle, special fuel, and petroleum taxes, and Federal Excise tax; and maintain detailed workpapers supporting the returns.
• Prepare Informational returns such as Inventory by Retail service stations, Resellers/ Retailers Petroleum product sales, and Prime Supplier Sales.
• Prepare accounting schedules and analyze general ledger balances to ensure tax assets and liabilities are accurately stated.
• Reconcile tax accounts, investigate discrepancies, and make recommendations for account resolution.
• Perform general accounting activities including the preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of ledger accounts.
• Assists with calculating, posting, and verification of financial data for use in maintaining financial and accounting records.
• Provide financial support, including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget.
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Qualifications:

• Must be Proficient with MS Office applications, especially Excel (Pivot, V-lookup, and Formula)
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting preferred
• Minimum two year experience in accounting preferred
• Retail and/or gasoline industry experience preferred
• PDI experience preferred
