We are looking for a seasoned executive consultant with banking and capital markets experience, strong leadership ability and client development skills! The Principal Consultant is a key driver of innovation, growth and stability within the Starr & Associates team. In this role you will lead across a variety of functions as an executive leader to positively influence overall business objectives. The Principal Consultant will lead their focused practice area within the organization to ensure both sound subject matter mastery and marketplace recognition.
The Principal Consultant role is responsible for ensuring the continued strength of our culture, help recruit and retain our talent position in the marketplace, enhance the overall company brand, increase internal expertise and support the scalability of the firm. Even though the role sits atop the organizational hierarchy, this is still a hands-on position, ideal for someone who is BOLD, CONFIDENT, organized, self-directed, a strong collaborator, critical problem solver, and who enjoys owning a wide breadth of responsibilities.
What’s in store:
Business Development and Brand Ambassador:
Develop meaningful relationships within the banking and capital markets sectors that result in opportunities to create value across the business landscape
Take ownership of professional and personal marketing activities within your focus area to generate awareness around the skills, capabilities and value proposition of your vertical
Be a brand ambassador for the firm by upholding the values of the firm while doing phenomenal work in the marketplace.
Attract new clientele through the development of thought leadership, proposals and/or digital content specific to sought after banking and capital markets solutions
Client Solution Development:
Develop solutions that create value for our clients and meets agreed upon specifications
Determine the appropriate level of effort, cost and high-level execution timing of custom solutions within your specific sector
Develop pricing in support of solution development and implementation that preserves client value while managing the firm’s cost outlay
Provide oversight and overall quality assurance for solutions prior to delivery
Serve as the engagement manager or oversight for the engagement manager as appropriate
Ensure resources and costs are tracked against the plan and regularly reviewed for variance
Gage client satisfaction and manage resources and engagements accordingly
Talent Recruiting:
Take lead in identifying specific talents, skills, capabilities and characteristics necessary to continue to deliver superior professional services to our clients
Work closely with the enterprise business team to direct resources, collateral and information to the appropriate channels best suited to attract top tier talent.
Participate in events, activities and functions designed to recruit ideal talent for the firm
Talent Development:
Work closely with colleagues, clients and leadership to ensure continuity in professional growth and opportunities for subordinates.
Take the lead in developing a plan for growth and success for each subordinate within your practice vertical.
Mentor and guide subordinates to cultivate optimal employee engagement at each level of the organization
Talent Evaluation:
Lead subordinate performance feedback/feedforward activities for your practice area
Ensure the transparent communication of performance, performance gaps, and any relevant performance gap closure plans.
Partner with HR to ensure subordinate compensation and contribution alignment
Develop performance metrics and lead periodic reviews of performance to those metrics
Company Governance and Leadership:
Participate in firm strategic initiatives and governance activities as requested
Contribute to the continued growth and scale of the firm through internal leadership, mentoring and participation in continuous improvement activities.
Responsible for the P&L activities of their specific practice areas
What you will need:
Bachelor’s Degree (required) from an accredited institution; Master’s Degree (preferred)
15+ years of experience working in the banking and capital markets sector for top tier financial service brands
12+ years of Management Consulting experience. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting Fortune 500 brands
7+ years of experience managing engagements of mid-sized consulting teams in solution delivery across multiple clients.
10+ years of experience leading digital and/or business transformation initiatives within the banking and capital markets sectors
Has deep understanding of client pain points as it relates to operations, risk management, customer/client acquisition and customer experience within the banking and capital markets sectors
Has a demonstrated track record of developing original content and thought leadership pertaining to solutions specific to the banking and capital markets sectors
Has experience developing and executing a marketing strategy in support of sales and revenue goals for their specific vertical
Experience leading change by leveraging technology, innovation, ideation, and strong change management skills
Excellent relationship skills, including experience collaborating with and proactively supporting multiple stakeholder groups
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal as client interaction will be critical to the success of this role
Strong executive presence and professionalism is a must!
Experience in managing and overseeing a portfolio of projects.
Strong focus on the client experience and account management
Proficient understanding of technology-based business processes, including related business models, technical components, modern software development processes, i.e., Agile Scrum, etc.

Compensation:
Base Salary Range: $165,000 - $200,000
Bonus: Up to 30%
