    Looking to fill our Teen Program Coordinator Position

    TITLE: Teen Coordinator

    PERFORMANCE

    PROFILE SOURCE: Youth Development Coordinator

    DEPARTMENT: The Club - Teen Programming

    REPORTS TO: Unit Director & Director of Operations

    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

    • Age 18+
    • High School diploma or GED
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Experience with serving Youth 12-18 years old
    • Strong communication skills
    • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
    • Creative and emotionally intelligent
    • Ability to plan, organize, facilitate, and measure outcomes
    • CPR, First Aid, AED training

    SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Program Planning

    Responsible for organizing, planning and facilitating a program with activities and lessons specifically for teen-aged members (12 and older). Will work directly with teen members to teach skills necessary to become productive, caring, responsible citizens through BGCA programming. Will assist members in preparing for their academic life as well as outside the scope of academics. Will use community partners as leverage to encourage character development, positive behavior and attitudes among the group.

    Safe & Positive Climate

    Coordinators must ensure a safe and positive climate for all members and staff at all times. This includes your immediate area as well as any surrounding visible areas within the range of your senses. Ensure that all equipment and supplies are in working condition and that it is being used in its intended manner.

    Program Implementation

    Coordinators are personally involved in Club programming and demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm toward members and visitors while encouraging participation and effort in all areas. Coordinators should constantly praise members for good efforts and provide constructive feedback to ensure members get the most out of every experience. Youth Development is our goal in every program, activity, and learning experience.

    Restorative Guidance

    • Coordinators will provide social-emotional guidance to all members while at the Club.
    • Coordinators must be able to recognize challenging situations and help members apply pre-taught skills to diffuse conflict, communicate concerns, and restore the existing relationships.
    • Coordinators should apply problem solving and conflict resolution skills in relation to the work and the population of members we serve.
    • Coordinators should be conscious of developing positive values and ethical behaviors within the members.
    • Coordinators should strive to model these values and behaviors not only while working, but in the community as well.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES:

    • Assists in the formulation of goals and objectives for the Teen Program.
    • Plans, organizes and facilitates activities that teach teens necessary skills specific to their lives and situations i.e. college, employment applications, interview preparation etc.
    • Coordinates programs and activities according to BGCA programming requirements.
    • Counsels and guides participants and promotes positive values and behavior.
    • Requests supplies and resources as needed in a timely manner.
    • Provides structure and fun through high-yield learning activities.
    • Keeps accurate and adequate records of attendance, participation, progress, and regress.
    • Plans and facilitates teen outings on a regular basis and has the ability to drive the Club van to transport teens for these events.
    • Plans, participates, and/or assists with special events and programs specific to teens and the Club.
    • Assists in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with other organizations who serve teens.
    • Assumes other duties as assigned.
