RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Devops Engineer to help build and operate our delivery pipelines and core container orchestration platform. The position will work side by side with development, QA, and product in order to successfully deliver high quality software. An ideal candidate is an individual who is either a strong developer who is interested in operations, or strong systems engineer who is interested in software development. Good team skills are essential to this role, as there is a great deal of day-to-day collaboration that takes place as we build and deliver solutions.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will:

• Build and operate CI/CD pipelines using drone and spinnaker
• Create kubernetes resources and maintain/improve a kubernetes cluster
• Participate in an on-call rotation
• Improve observability for internal and open source applications
• Automate manual tasks using code
• Identify delivery bottlenecks in the development process and implement solutions
• Work with application developers to optimize applications for performance and scale
• Administer AWS resources and provide guidance on utilization
• Ensure we are releasing code safely, securely, and frequently
• Investigate and adopt new technologies/tools are needs arise

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to find opportunities for improvements and work independently to solve them
• Understanding of measurement and observability as it applies to cloud systems using tools such as prometheus, cloudwatch, and fluentd
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Good understanding of continuous integration/continuous delivery principles
• Knowledge of and experience with container orchestration technologies
• Strong linux and intermediate networking skills
• Understanding of security principles
• Experience building systems with a cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience utilizing REST APIs to integrate services
• Good understanding of devops/agile principles
• Experience with modern configuration management/infrastructure as code tooling.
• Use of distributed version control systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
• Up to date with latest industry patterns and tooling.
• Self-motivation and ability to work with others collaboratively
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, high-energy environment
• A history of engaging with and contributing to open source communities is a strong plus
