Be the go-to technical authority for large industrial steam and power systems supporting mill/utility operations. Lead cycle performance analysis, equipment sizing/specs, and integration for new installs and major upgrades.
Key responsibilities
- Support projects from FEL/FEED through detailed design, field execution, and start-up (CHP/cogen, retrofits, debottlenecking)
- Build/validate heat & mass balances and steam/water balances; run Rankine/combined-cycle performance models
- Specify/size boilers, single- and multi-pressure HRSGs (incl. duct firing), steam turbines (backpressure/condensing), and condensers (vacuum/CW options; air vs water)
- Engineer steam distribution and control strategy: headers, PRVs/letdown, attemperation, bypass/relief & PSV sizing, condensate return, DA/feedwater, load swing/turndown stability
- Produce/review PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, control narratives, commissioning plans; lead vendor technical evaluations and lifecycle cost comparisons
Ideal background
- BS Mechanical/Chemical/Power (PE a plus)
- 20+ years in industrial boiler/HRSG/turbine project engineering (mill utilities/power island/CHP)
- Strong ASME/HEI/API/NFPA/ISA knowledge; Thermoflow (or similar) + AFT/PIPE-FLO; hands-on mill steam/power integration experience
