    Steamroller Animation has ever-evolving needs and is always looking for talented animators of all levels. Therefore, this position is open and posted on our jobs site periodically throughout the year. This could mean that we have positions open now, and it could also mean we don't have a position open at this exact moment but have potential positions open in the near future because we receive new projects regularly over time.

    Animators work on a wide variety of projects, types, and styles of animation with guidance from Animation Supervisors and Leads. Animators work on intermediate to complex animation tasks with adherence to the production schedules and deadlines while producing final, high-quality animation. Animators can conduct training sessions approved by their supervisor and can help with mentoring Apprentice and Junior Animators. This is a full-time position and may be either remote or on-site.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with the animation team on intermediate to complex animation tasks.
    • Produce final, high-quality animation for keyframe, motion capture, in-game, cinematic sequence, VFX, and shot-based work.
    • Deliver work in the style and artistic direction of the project.
    • Collaborate with and take direction from Animation Directors, Animation Supervisors, and Animation Leads.
    • Interact with production and supervisors on shot deadlines and deliverables.
    • Implement changes and finalize shots in accordance with the production schedule.
    • Participate in dailies, rounds, and team reviews.
    • Able to decipher and follow through on shot notes and feedback.
    • Maintain an open and professional demeanor regarding direction, changes, and shifting requirements.
    • Attend training classes to grow their animation skill set.
    • Potentially conduct training with Supervisor approval.
    • Possess a working knowledge of necessary production tools.
    • Potential or ability to assist in mentoring Apprentice and Junior Animators.

    Requirements

    • At least one to two years of animation experience.
    • Able to work efficiently as part of a team or independently.
    • Proficient with working in Autodesk’s Maya.
    • Able to work on a wide variety of Animation projects and styles.
    • A working understanding of Unreal Engine is helpful but not required.
    • Ability to provide reference footage which may include some physical movement such as bending, crouching, twisting, or reaching above/below the shoulder, unless otherwise acquired via third-party means.

    Physical Requirements

    • Handling/grasping documents or office equipment.
    • Sitting for extended periods of time.
    • Vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data.
    • Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone.
    • Repetitive motions for computer equipment use.
    • Work should be performed primarily in an office/home-office environment using standard office equipment.
