Steel Estimator

Location: Ponder, TX (On-Site)

A well-established commercial steel contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to support a growing backlog of structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects. The role involves preparing estimates for commercial projects, including structural and ornamental steel scopes exceeding $1 million.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys analyzing drawings, developing competitive estimates, and collaborating with operations teams to successfully transition awarded projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and ornamental steel projects.

• Review architectural and structural plans and specifications.

• Perform material takeoffs and labor calculations.

• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.

• Prepare change order pricing and value engineering proposals.

• Coordinate with project management and fabrication teams during project turnover.

• Manage multiple estimates while meeting bid deadlines.

  Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience within structural steel, miscellaneous metals, ornamental metals, or commercial steel fabrication.

  • Experience estimating projects valued at $1 million or greater.

  • Strong blueprint reading and quantity takeoff skills.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
