    Steel & Fence Supply is a metal fencing manufacturer and supplier with over 25 years of experience providing premium fence materials to construction professionals and the retail public.

    We're looking for a BOOKKEEPER / ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT to record daily financial transactions in our ERP system, as well as assist with other various administrative tasks as needed.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    This is a fulltime role located at our main office in San Jose, California. As a BOOKKEEPER / ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT, you will support the CFO through the processing of daily AR, AP, and inventory transactions. Prior exposure to accounting and bookkeeping practices is essential to your success in the role, though on-the-job training will also be provided. The position has room for growth, depending on the candidate's ambition and potential.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Punctual and dependable attendance – hours are Mon.-Fri. 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
    • Basic data-entry, including but not limited to invoice and inventory transaction processing
    • Process payments on account, customer account maintenance, contact overdue customers (collections), and provide customers with statements
    • Filing and management of bookkeeping documents and records
    • Respond to customer needs, requests, and complaints
    • Word processing, document compiling, report editing, and creating spreadsheets as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate or Bachelor degree preferred, or equivalent experience
    • Excellent knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting practices
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, and Word
    • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Positive attitude and desire to excel in the role
    • Views coaching and feedback as an opportunity to grow

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    • Starting hourly wage of $28-30 depending on experience and qualifications, with the potential for further growth based on candidate performance
