  • Responsibilities

    Three Oaks Hospitality is looking for professional grill cooks to prepare food to the exact chef’s specifications and to set up cooking stations. Our grill cooks are responsible for cooking our aged beef over the 1000-degree oak and mesquite open fire grille. This will include braising and grilling meat, vegetables, and other types of food as needed. To be successful in this role, you will need to be capable of working in a team and have exceptional grilling abilities.

    We also ask our grill cooks to assist the kitchen staff with the ingredient preparation process. This can involve slicing, cutting, and tenderizing meat, vegetables, and other ingredients. You will also be asked to communicate with waitstaff and assist in maintaining inventory.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Braise and grill meat and vegetables with a high degree of skill
    • Assist in maintaining inventory by tracking, labeling, and replacing key ingredients
    • Prepare meat and vegetables by slicing, cutting, shredding, and tenderizing them as needed
    • Communicate with the head chef and wait staff to ensure the timely delivery of all meals
    • Comply with food and health regulations and safety standards.
    • Maintain a workstation that is both clean and sanitary
    • Communicate with the restaurant manager about any kitchen supplies and upgrades that are needed
    • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies.
    • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
    • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
    • Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions.
    • Clean up station and take care of leftover food.
    • Stock inventory appropriately
    • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in a high quality and in a timely fashion.
    • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Familiarity with grilling equipment like oven, skewers, and chimney starter
    • Knowledge of different grilling methods like direct heat grilling, smoking, and rotisserie grilling
    • Knowledge of industry standards and food safety guidelines
    • Demonstrating proper hygiene behavior
    • Ability to offer excellent customer satisfaction
    • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to work for long periods and on public holidays
    • Availability to work evening and weekend shifts
    • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
    • Familiar with industry’s best practice

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Culinary school diploma preferred.
    • Valid Food Handlers Certificate.
    • Previous experience as a line chef, restaurant cook, or prep cook preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Remain standing for extended periods of time.
    • Bending, squatting and lifting up to 20 lbs. for short distances.
