UI/UX Designer (Remote - Pacific Coast Preferred)

Steno

UI/UX Designer (Remote - Pacific Coast Preferred)

Los Angeles, CA
Full Time
Paid
  • Responsibilities

Steno is growing! We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer to join our winning team.

In this role, you’ll be instrumental in helping to improve existing products while also contributing to the build and design of new products.

    WHO ARE YOU?

We’re looking for a designer who is passionate about both UI and UX with dedicated product experience. If you’ve expanded your skillset from website design to include both web and mobile application design and enjoy working cross-functionally with engineering and product teams...we’re looking for you too!

This role would be a great fit if you’re a tactile designer who can tackle projects and change gears in a flash (read: at a startup pace). While our teams are highly-collaborative, we operate with a lot of autonomy and discretion. You’ll excel in this role if you’re independently-motivated, think critically and dynamically to solve problems small and large, and can be flexible to the needs of your projects and team.

    ON A REGULAR BASIS YOU’LL:

    • Collaborate with the engineering and product teams to design new features for existing products and design new products from the ground up.

    • Convert user requirements into wireframes, and eventually high fidelity designs.

    • Design new user interface components which can be used across our set of products to give our products a consistent look and feel that is aligned with the brand.

    • Develop mockups and prototypes and present them to the team for review.

    OUR TEAM

Steno’s Engineering & Product teams are a highly reliable and constantly innovative group. We work hand-in-hand to design and execute new ideas and solutions.

Our team is also humble and each individual recognizes that no one or one system is perfect; we see errors as an opportunity for improvement!

    YOU’RE GONNA CRUSH IT IF:

    • You have at least 3 - 5 years of UI/UX experience, including working collaboratively with engineering and product teams.

    • Can share a portfolio of UI/UX design projects with us that contain at least 1 - 2 case studies outlining the problems you were trying to solve, goals, process, and solutions (make sure you clearly articulate your design decisions!).

    • You’re proficient with Figma (or willing to learn it if coming from a different system).

    • Highly-organized is your middle name and you have otherworldly attention to detail and critical thinking skills.

    • You revel in the beauty of making a complex system seem simple; you have an understanding that the little details are what often can make the difference.

    • You’re customer-obsessed and focused on creating a frictionless customer experience.

    • You have knowledge in HTML/CSS.

    • You have experience working in a start-up (or strong interest in joining a highly-variable, fast-paced team and company) and are excited about the opportunity for growth within the company.

    WHY STENO, WHY NOW?

Steno is revolutionizing the court reporting industry every single day. We’re a diverse team from all over the country (and beyond), crazy about redefining the boundaries of an outdated industry. We’re so excited about where we’re headed and want to invite you along for what’s next (something about wearing shades because Steno’s future's so...bright? Forgive us…we don’t get out much).

Our employees (@futureyou?) are essential to our success and we treat them that way. We offer health benefits,  stock options, a 401k, unlimited vacation, and several other unique perks to show our team how valued they are. We’re also 100% remote, so bring on the stretchy pants and slippers (with a collared shirt thrown in every now and again)--we don’t judge. We’re all just here to do our best work, everyday, together.

If you’re looking for a company that offers support, guidance, an abundance of killer giphys, and unlimited potential to grow into your best self, you can bet we’d love to have you too.

    ABOUT STENO

Steno was founded in Los Angeles in 2018. We are a quickly growing legal technology startup with a very simple core purpose - “to improve the litigation process.” Our team is highly reliable, constantly innovative, and operates with a hospitality mindset in every single way. Seriously. While this is a fast-paced environment, the opportunity for growth is abundant.

In the last two years, Steno has grown from just 9 employees in Los Angeles to over 80 employees across the nation and works fully remote. Our team is incredibly diverse and a unique blend of backgrounds in law, technology, operations, and finance. Though not many of us have met in person, we are a cohesive team that has produced amazing results in just a short time (if we do say so ourselves).

Steno developed a new style of deferred litigation financing called DelayPay and Steno Connect, a web-based videoconferencing platform specifically designed for remote depositions and bench trials. And, to top it off, we are growing as a prominent court reporting agency in several major US markets.

Steno just closed a Series A1 round of funding led by Trust Ventures. With seed investments from First Round Capital, Human Ventures, and others, we’ve raised $23 million in total. This capital not only helps us invest in our business and product but also our people. We know that without our people, we’d have nothing. So, we offer fantastic health and time off benefits, complete home office outfitting, and additional perks that make our culture unique.

Steno is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, religion, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, non-disqualifying physical or mental ability, national origin, veteran status, or any other basis covered by appropriate law. All employment is decided based on qualifications, merit, and business needs.
