    Position Summary

    St. Michael’s Surgery Center is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented SPD Technician to support both surgical and ASC operations. This role is responsible for maintaining proper sterilization and infection control standards while assisting with surgical chart preparation, laser flow, medical records support, and overall surgical center efficiency.

    The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced ophthalmology surgery center environment.

    Schedule

    Wednesday & Thursday: Dedicated surgery days

    Remaining weekdays: ASC support including lasers, chart build, sterilization, medical records, and surgical coordination

    Responsibilities

    Surgical & Sterile Processing Duties

    Sterilize and process ophthalmic surgical instruments and equipment according to ASC and infection control standards

    Prepare and organize surgical trays for upcoming cases

    Maintain accurate sterilization logs and biological testing documentation

    Assist with efficient turnover between surgical cases

    Monitor and restock surgical supplies and sterile inventory

    Maintain cleanliness and organization of SPD and surgical areas

    ASC Support Duties

    Assist with laser procedure flow and patient preparation

    Support surgical chart build to ensure charts are complete prior to surgery

    Assist with scanning, medical records management, and document organization

    Help coordinate pre-op and post-op paperwork as needed

    Support compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and ASC accreditation standards

    Provide general support to the ASC team to maintain smooth daily operations

    Qualifications

    Previous SPD, surgical tech, ophthalmology, or ASC experience preferred

    CRCST certification preferred but not required

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

    Reliable, professional, and team-oriented

    Basic computer and EMR experience preferred
