    Schedule:
    Variable evening shift (12:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.) No Weekends

    The Sterile Processing Technician is a key member of the clinical support team, responsible for ensuring the safe decontamination, reprocessing, and sterilization of instrument sets and reusable medical supplies. This role supports clinical operations by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Receive and process instruments, supplies, and equipment from operating rooms, clinics, departments, and external customers in a timely manner

    • Clean and decontaminate instruments, scopes, and equipment using proper PPE and following established procedures, including manual, ultrasonic, and automated methods

    • Perform sterilization and high-level disinfection using steam autoclaves, low-temperature systems, and liquid chemical processes

    • Complete and record all required daily quality checks and equipment tests

    • Document sterilization, high-level disinfection, and related tasks in electronic systems (SPM) or paper records

    • Follow AAMI standards and manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs) for all instrumentation and equipment handling

    • Maintain work areas and equipment in compliance with AAMI standards and IFUs

    • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff within the department

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED

    • 1 full year in a Sterile Processing Dept or GI lab

    • Ability to move freely, including standing, stooping, bending, walking, and pushing/pulling

    • Ability to lift 24 lbs up to 50 lbs regularly

    • Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Sterile Processing Technician Certification (HSPA)

    • One year of experience in an acute care setting
