Job Description

This is a direct-hire position with a product packaging manufacturer.

SUMMARY:

As a key member of a small team of experts, the Development Engineer will be engaged in engineering project work, to develop and improve metal packaging products and manufacturing processes, from ideas and concepts, through development and on to implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use CAD (SolidWorks) to design metal packaging components, tools, and machinery parts.
• Organize and undertake product and process development work in technical facilities, setting up equipment and manufacturing samples for testing, as well as demonstrations and customer trials.
• Evaluation and proof of new product specifications.
• Generation of product manufacturing standards and specifications.
• Transfer technology into the manufacturing plants, preparing the necessary documentation, providing commissioning support and demonstrating capability against dimensional and performance requirements.
• Provide a problem-solving resource to operations, helping resolve manufacturing issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with Solidworks for CAD design.
• Ability to perform hands on tooling and machine set-up.
• Ability to drive projects.
• Ability to travel approximately 20% to other US-based company locations.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

• 60% of this role will be focused on manufacturing process improvements and optimization
• 40% of this role will be focused on mechanical design of equipment parts for production and prototyping.

Target salary range:  $75K - 90K/year
