    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    Reporting to the Senior Director- Human Resources, North America and dotted line to the Vice President-Operations, this Human Resources leader will be responsible for providing leadership to a team of HR professionals and support to all 3 facilities (Gonzalez, Hansen shipping, F&S, Fresh Leaf Farms, Cal-fresh). The Senior Human Resources Business Partner partners and collaborates to provide strategic HR leadership to the Mann Packing Enterprise compromised of 5 facilities. The goal is to work as a partner with leadership, key management, and all other stakeholders.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Key responsibilities include workforce planning and retention, change management, training, employee relations, and labor relations support.
    • Represents the Company in Union-related activities including negotiations, grievance resolution, arbitrations, etc.
    • In conjunction with the VP-Operations and Safety Manager, ensures Safety is the number one priority
    • Fosters a positive, and healthy relationship with the Union
    • Oversees and manages the contingent labor vendor strategy, relationships, mark up rates, and quality of employees
    • Drives engagement among the leadership team to ensure a top to bottom approach
    • Assists leadership in creating a positive environment, where employees feel valued and appreciated
    • Creates and fosters external facing partnerships with local companies, vendors and universities.
    • Administers benefits programs such as medical, dental, 401k, life insurance, vacation and EAP.
    • Takes ownership of the department’s Human Capital Management (HCM) and Time Keeping systems
    • Partners with the HR, Finance, and the Corporate office on Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements
    • Maintains records for employee transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
    • Leads process improvement efforts and the implementation of technology (ESS) with a goal to improve efficiency and service levels to our internal customers
    • Interviews candidates to fill vacant positions at Manager level & above
    • Plans and conducts new employee onboarding
    • Coordinates and leads employee training, both mandatory and developmental
    • Partners with the Senior HR Director and VP-Operations to arrive at appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
    • Executes and Administers performance review program (PMR) to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization
    • Collaborates with respective partners on investigations of employee complaints, legal cases, accidents, etc.
    • Ensures Company programs and policies are compliant with Federal and State regulatory agencies
    • Responsible for the annual HR Budget
    • Works to diffuse situations, but when necessary conducts all exits in partnership with the hiring manager
    • Represents organization at employee-related hearings and investigations

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • BA or BS in Human Resources or relevant field
    • 5-8 years of HR Manufacturing experience inclusive of a Union
    • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing/food processing environment
    • Strong knowledge and experience in Sarbanes Oxley compliance i.e. with a publicly traded company
    • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite applications
    • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment (produce)
    • Must be agile, flexible, and solution orientated
    • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
    • Must be able to work nights & weekends on occasion

    HS diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years of relevant administrative/operational support in manufacturing operations or office environment directly related to the duties of the job, OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of work experience.

     

    Requires very good knowledge of general administrative/manufacturing operations procedures and knowledge of job specific processes to successfully execute and complete the more progressive/complex duties of the job.

    Ability to follow company policy and understand any rules or regulations governing the work being completed and impact work has on department or company. 

    Must have very good knowledge of technology to include computers and software programs such as MS Office or MAC word processing, spreadsheets or other programs specific to the job in order to complete duties successfully. 

    Requires good knowledge of multiple functions or areas of the business in which there is frequent contact with while completing daily work assignments of the job. 

    Must have very good oral and written communication skills sufficient to explain departmental policy, methods and/or procedures when completing assignments. 

    Requires very good organizational skills sufficient to accomplish work by established deadlines and ability to coordinate phases of work with others.

    Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
