    TITLE: SAT Prep Instructor - Part Time Department: Academic Support Services

    SITE: John Adams High School

    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

     

    Liberty Partnerships Program 

    The Liberty Partnerships Program is sponsored by the New York State Education Department and St John's University. It is designed to provide support services to high school students who are identified as having the potential to pursue a college education but need assistance to complete secondary school. The program provides a broad range of services designed to increase academic skill development, motivation to succeed, and to foster the personal development of the students in the program. These year-round services include: tutoring, counseling, MENTORING, DEVELOPMENTAL COURSES, AND SOCIAL AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES. THE PROGRAM CONSISTS OF A DIRECTOR, 1 Program Coordinator, 1 part-time Graduate Assistant, and  a  team  of part-time teachers  and college tutors/mentors. The Science Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and tutorial services in mathematics during the LPP Saturday and after-school program located at John Adams High School.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Mastery of the SAT or ACT or SSAT (all areas or math/verbal specialist) OR Mastery of high school subject areas (math, science, and English)
    • Lead test prep lessons on campus and possibly in classrooms at partner locations
    • Record student attendance, engagement, and progress
    • Collaborate with High School Liaisons and/or school personnel to design and implement academic
    • Exhibit great classroom management skills that enable learning for all students;
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelors degree in related field Masters' Degree in Education preferred
    • Record student attendance, engagement, and progress
    • State Certification or college teaching experience preferred
    • Three years teaching experience at the secondary or collegiate level
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards and Common Core
    • Ability to inspire and motivate youth
    • Deep rooted passion in serving students and helping them achieve their goals

  • Qualifications

     Demonstrated success in developing and securing new business

    • 2 -5 years outside B2B sales experience preferred acquiring accounts in a print, or related industry, is a plus but not necessary
    • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience required.
    • The ideal candidate must be self-driven with an entrepreneurial mindset.
    • Candidates must possess a confident personality suitable for handling cold calls and account management. 
    • Excellent presentation, organization, verbal and written communication
    • Candidates are expected to be able to converse fluently at all contact levels within an organization (from Junior to C-level).
    • Candidates must possess and subscribe to high work and business ethics, and be extremely self motivated.
