      NOTE: THE SCHEDULE, FOR THIS POSITION, IS (2ND-3RD) SHIFT

     

     

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    This position will be responsible for maintaining good relations between Del Monte's Distribution Centers (DCs), Sales Department, and the company’s network of 3rd party carriers.   In this role, will also coordinate inland transportation of product line within the United States.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Plan inland transportation for Del Monte product line, to and from origins and destinations within the U.S.
    • Will be the first point of contact between carriers and sales groups.
    • Manage network of carriers to fill orders given by Sales and the Distribution Centers (DCs).
    • Manage load and track process to ensure timely customer pickup and delivery.
    • Identify, calculate, and enter cost per box freight cost into the company's operating system(s) on a daily basis.
    • Update and maintain assigned reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

    NIGHT RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Consolidate tracking reports for all loads that need to be tracked and traced.
    • Communicate to 3rd party carriers and Tricont Drivers customer requirements for all load movements overnight.
    • Track and trace loads through delivery while reporting all necessary information to all parties.
    • Communicate any pertinent information to sales person or buyer in reference to their business and loads.
    • Recover open loads as needed following corporate policy pricing.
    • Complete and follow through on all tracking and tracing reporting.
    • Provide nightly feedback on carrier performance and opportunities.
    • Troubleshoot all issues during the shift at shippers and receivers. Involve all pertinent parties.
    • Ensure all Overnight issues are communicated and documented.

     

     

    MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED

    • High School Diploma or equivalent, from an accredited institution.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook).
    • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.
    • Knowledge of produce transportation handling best practices, with a good understanding of cold chain management.
    • Must be Flexible to work on Holidays
    • Ability to Work Independently with a High Sense of Urgency
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a continual improvement mindset
    • Excellent negotiation skills
    • Ability to multitask while maintaining a high attention to detail
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced competitive environment
    • Ability to prioritize workload under quickly changing circumstances

     

    PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

    • Knowledge of i2 and/or other Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
    • Previous experience with any transportation software programs is beneficial for this position.
    • Less than Load (LTL) experience.
    • Transportation, Logistics or Dispatch experience

    • Requires comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of techniques, procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements to set-ip, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment to produce single-, two-, and/or multi-color work to critical tolerances. 
    • Skill in a wide-variety of complex manipulations and mechanical procedures to perform a variety of tasks to set-up, make major adjustments, and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment to produce single-, two-, and/or multi-color work. 
    • Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully. 
    • Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.Requires comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of techniques, procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements to set-ip, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment to produce single-, two-, and/or multi-color work to critical tolerances.
