    Job Description

    This is a hybrid position which requires sales acumen, project management skills, a desire to help and support customers. It requires flexibility and entrepreneurship.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • B.A. or B.S. in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.

    • Programming and Mechatronics experience, or strong aptitude required.

    • 3 plus years Motion and/or Industrial Automation experience preferred.

    • Experience with our product lines and configuration of PLCs and PACs is a plus.

    • Must have effective professional presentation skills. Bilingual - Spanish or Mandarin a plus.

    • Strong knowledge of motion control drives, motors, mechanics and controller technology.

    • An understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.

    • Familiarity with modern industrial networks with an understanding of the relative merits of different technologies is a plus.

    • Must have excellent oral and written skills.

    • Must have good PC skills and experience with MS Office products.

    • Must enjoy “hunting” for new opportunities and have a positive “can do” attitude.

    • Ability to work and travel outside of normal business hours; evenings and/or weekends.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    MOTION SALES DEVELOPMENT

    • Responsible for driving and supporting Southern California Motion Product sales activity with our sales people, manufacturers and their representatives.

    • Responsible for Southern California Motion sales growth; Goals mutually set with management.

    • Help establish OEM Motion Target Accounts and Sales Plan for each Sales Application Engineer.

    • Work with the team to establish and win Target Motion OEM Accounts.

    • Make joint and supplier calls with SEI Sales Application Engineers as required.

     

    • Qualify, track and set appointments with OEM Motion Leads.

    • Assure Motion Opportunities are logged in Steven Engineering’s Opportunity Tracker database.

    • Identify Strategic Accounts for Motion Products Manager and key management to visit.

    • Perform consultative sales presentations and Lunch and Learns at key accounts in order to gain insight into customer’s needs and possible motion control solutions.

    • Visit and present products benefits to key accounts and relevant industry organizations.

    • Help develop and refine Steven Engineering’s Motion Database.

    • Participate in monthly Southern California Sales Meetings.

    APPLICATION MAKING, SIZING AND SELECTION

    • Assist sales team size applications, select and price products.

    • Provide product support and application engineering as necessary to maximize sales.

    • Provide product selection assistance to other functional areas within Steven Engineering.

    TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

    • Learn Motion Product Lines sufficiently enough to recommend and support offerings.

    • Learn key products to a “consultative” level.

    • Learn how to operate and program to at least a basic-level, key control products

    • Help our Sales Application Engineers develop their overall and specific Motion capabilities and presentation skills.

    • Help make selling Motion a natural part of every Sales Application Engineer’s day.

    • Conduct and/or coordinate regular product/sales training with the Southern California Team.

    • Conduct and/or coordinate Customer Training Sessions, Tradeshows, etc.

    • Help Motion Team develop new tools to improve sales, effectiveness and quality.

    • Be proficient in demonstrating Motion products and the Motion Tool Kit.

    SUPPORT OTHER STEVEN ENGINEERING NEEDS

    • Provide input to Mar-Com team to assist with development of product and industry specific brochures, catalogs, white papers, case studies, press releases and web pages.

    • Help maintain list of possible product enhancements for input to manufacturer partners for new product development projects and product upgrade projects.

    • Actively participate in Steven Engineering trade shows including performing booth duty, booth set up and tear down and direct customer interaction and lead capture activities.

    • Provide support to Motion team and Tech Support as needed.

    HOURS OF WORK:

    As necessary to profitably increase sales.
