Independent garden center entering its 3rd year in Midtown, seeking an energetic and dependable retail sales associate to join growing team. Associates directly assist customers, process transactions, and help merchandise plants, products, standalone displays as well as seasonal displays. We constantly change it up to look our best!! The person/s we’re looking for will play a vital role in making our retail experience a positive one. Top notch customer service skills is a must, as is the ability to learn plant/product knowledge quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for dependable people with positive attitudes that take direction well with great people skills. Social media skills a must.

Sales Representative Job Responsibilities:

·         Welcome and greet customers as they enter the shop

·         Offer help and provide direct assistance to customers

·         Provide plant knowledge and information on bloom time, overall size, category (annual, perennial, ground cover, shrub, tree, etc.)

·         Provide product knowledge on insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, soils, mulches, amendments

·         Answer customer concerns and questions

·         Attend to unique and individual requests of each customer- we will not have everything that everyone is looking for, but we definitely try to locate for them.

·         Cross-sell and encourage beneficial product add-ons

·         **Social media interaction to generate sales. We need people who can operate Instagram and FaceBook fluently.

·         Process purchases, returns, and exchanges with manager's supervision

·         Handle customer complaints (if and when) in a calm and professional manner

·         Report anything suspicious or unusual to management

·         Help organize overstock and perform inventory counts/checks regularly

·         Process newly received shipments/deliveries- count and check off everything received and notify management of anything that is missing off invoice or is damaged.

·         Restocking all plant tables to remain full (a must) as well as our chemicals.

·         Notify management when any plants/products are running low and will need to re-order

·         Maintain a clean and tidy work (greenhouse/shrub yard) and retail space

·         Be enthusiastic and informative about all products we sell. We wouldn’t stock it, if we didn’t believe in it.

·         Help create a positive environment in which to shop or buy

·         Take direction from and report to an assigned supervisor

·         Work as a team to complete daily projects as well as our sales goals

Retail Sales Associate Qualifications:

·         High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred

·         Previous retail, sales, and/or hospitality experience is preferred

·         Computer literate; familiarity with POS systems and Excel, Word, Power Point

·         Extremely positive, personable, and approachable

·         Fantastic customer service skills

·         Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to 8 hours

·         Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

·         Scheduling:

The shop will be open 7 days a week starting sometime in March. Each employee is expected to work at least 1 of those days on the weekend.

As far as number of positions that are available, we are looking at possibly 3 full time and 2 or more part-time positions depending on what hours are possible from those persons.
