    BACKGROUND INFO

The Department of Pediatrics of the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University invites applicants for a position of Research Support Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity and you will become part of a research team in an NIH-funded Lab studying the response of the neonatal immune system to bacterial infections and sepsis and the development of anti-inflammatory therapies that may improve survival and outcome of infected newborns. The Lab especially aims to understand the underlying immunopathology of inflammation-induced brain-injury of the newborn and to identify ways to control the detrimental effects of central nervous system inflammation on the developing neonatal brain. To achieve this goal the Lab uses both in vitro blood and cell culture models as well as in vivo rodent models of neonatal bacterial infections. To help with these efforts we are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join us as Research Support Specialist, where you will have the opportunity to make important contributions to both our research and teaching mission.
