  • Responsibilities

    Job Duties:

    • Create multiple files using Microsoft Word and Excel (i.e., creation of new files, formatting files, exporting files, formatting data in Excel, and inventory data entry).
    • Use CarteGraph inventory software for report preparation, organization, filing on the public works X drive, and data entry including various transactions related to the inventory software.
    • Issue and transfer material from the stockroom warehouse window to the maintenance crews.
    • Assisting the storekeeper supervisor with the physical counting of materials within the Public Works Stockroom and Satellite stock areas.
    • Perform simple math unit of measure conversions e.g., gallons to ounces, yard to feet and able to perform simple math functions, e.g., unit cost x quantity of = total cost.
    • Able to operate a motor vehicle and forklift when required. Prefer Forklift certification however can be obtained later.
    • Maintain an appropriate work pace, focus on routine tasks without distraction and complete assigned tasks with expected timeframe.
    • Perform routine tasks that vary little from day to day.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with merchants, the public, supervisor, and co-workers.
    • Carry out procedures or decisions of others requiring little independent judgment.
    • Able to to tolerate typical work stressors (deadlines, disagreeable contacts, etc.).
    • Effectively communicate with other city employees, customer, and the public both orally and in writing.
    • Perform maintenance functions in storeroom area.
    • Perform tasks requiring incumbent to reach for items lower than, at, or above shoulder level.
    • Perform tasks requiring incumbent to climb a ladder or stepstool to reach items stored on high shelves may be required.
    • Perform tasks requiring incumbent to regularly climb stairs may be required. Ability to perform tasks requiring trunk strength (Requires use of abdominal and lower back muscles).
    • Perform tasks requiring twisting of hands, legs, neck and/or waist.
    • Perform tasks requiring exposure to dust and/or dirt.
    • Work outdoors as necessary with occasional exposure to inclement weather, extreme heat conditions at or above 90 degrees and/or extreme cold conditions below 30 degrees may be required.
    • Properly wear safety equipment (shoes, hard hats, gloves, glasses).
    • Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Six months experience in inventory control methods providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which
      provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
    • Must have, or obtain, a current and driver’s license.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and data entry. A test will be administered at Public Works Operations to determine proficiency. The high scorers on this proficiency test will proceed to the interview.

    Schedule:

    Tuesday - Thursday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm; Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm - 27 Hours
