    Job Description

    NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego is seeking a bilingual Story Producer to play a pivotal role in the daily execution of our multi-platform news strategy. This position combines elements of traditional linear TV production (research, writing and editing) with production for digital platforms. It requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and creative individual to deliver impactful, timely, and engaging local news content across multiple platforms. The role combines editorial judgment, and hands-on content production within a fast-paced 24/7 news gathering environment.

    ** Key Responsibilities**

    • Gather, research, write, and edit local news content, focusing on our brand pillars of breaking news, weather, consumer, investigative, and stories that impact our community.
    • Write, edit, and publish stories, prepare pre-pro elements, text articles, video clips, packages, and digital elements.
    • Collaborate with producers, reporters, and talent on both broadcast and digital platforms. Provide editorial feedback, critique production quality, and ensure content aligns with editorial standards and meets time constraints for on-air and digital delivery.
    • Edit live event coverage or breaking news footage for quick turnaround, ensuring stories are engaging, visually compelling, and delivered under tight deadlines.
    • Publish content across platforms, including broadcast, digital, social, streaming and emerging platforms.
    • Optimize content for audience engagement, ensuring maximum reach and impact.
    • Oversee the production and management of live video streams, ensuring seamless integration into our digital platforms. Occasionally, collaborate with reporters and talent to create original content for OTT channels.

    ** Required Skills**

    • Fluency in Spanish and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
    • At least 1 year of prior news editing experience in a professional medium to large sized broadcast market or digital environment or equivalent.
    • Proficiency in multimedia tools for editing and publishing (e.g., video editing software, CMS platforms, social media tools).
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
    • Strong editing skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and produce polished content.

    • Proven experience in digital media production, journalism, or content creation.

    • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate content.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of AP Style writing and guidelines.
    • Knowledge of San Diego city and regions and it’s political and social personalities.
    • Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital content optimization.
    • Experience in livestream production, podcasting, and OTT content management is a plus.

    ** Additional Requirements**

    • Required On-Site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

    • Salary range: This is an hourly role. $60,000-$75,000
