Our client is a virtual trucking carrier in the multi-billion dollar trucking space. This traditional industry is highly fragmented with huge opportunities for products, services and automation. Data science is core to helping truck drivers manage their business with maximal efficiency and minimal headache.
As a Senior Data Scientist on the team, you'll develop and improve models that power core product applications, as well as partner cross functionally to enable the organization to make decisions with accurate and meaningful data.
Responsibilities
- Own analytics platform.
- As a founding, and experienced member of the data science team, establish and champion data best practices throughout the organization
- End-to-end ownership (prototype, implement, monitor and iterate) of online, predictive models across applications including driver decision making, driver performance & risk, macro & micro market movements, and marketing.
- Partner cross functionally to deliver critical insights and enable data driven decisions.
- Examples of additional projects depending on experience and interest: Develop new applications of machine learned models for pricing optimization and / or route optimization.
- Communicate clear, concise and actionable insights to our drivers and the broader freight community.
Requirements
- 4+ years of industry experience in data science, machine learning or closely related role with established history of project ownership & success.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technologies (data science, machine learning, etc.)
- Experience with our technical stack - Django, Postgres, Javascript, React)
- Experience querying databases and using statistical programming languages or libraries. Python & SQL
- Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with minimal direction.
- Able to ship incrementally and iterate quickly to deliver user focused value.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
