DARPA’s Commercial Strategy Team applies an end-to-end approach to commercializing some of DARPA’s most impactful technology. We accelerate DARPA Program Managers’ ideas, working with DARPA’s top performers and researchers, and bringing in top entrepreneurs, venture and private investors, and other DoD and Commercial thought leaders and teams, which drive new products, services, and key technology for the DoD, Commercial Markets for both economic and national security as well as societal impact.

Being a part of DARPA’s Commercial Strategy Team

DARPA has a 65-year track record of bringing some of the top technical innovations to the world – the internet, GPS, self-driving cars, LEDs, etc. DARPA has a ~$4.2B annual budget, with less than 200 federal program managers and staff, spread over 6 tech offices. In your role, you will be part of an elite team, working with some of the most brilliant DARPA PMs, performers, as well as world class commercial advisors, venture, and private investors, on behalf of the Director’s Office (DIRO), to accelerate the commercialization of some of the most important technologies to advance DARPA’s mission - to pose and prevent technological surprise.

In this role you will:

In the role of business and data analyst, you will be working as part of an exciting team, to provide business and data analysis and visualization in a demanding, fast-paced professional services environment. The primary goals are to leverage the Agency leadership team’s time to make informed decisions, track and measure performance, benchmark and provide the visualizations (dashboards) for analysis, portfolio management, and support the broader team and successfully serve the Agency’s mission. You have a deep commitment to advance national and economic security.

Role Highlights:

• Develop, design and maintain high end performance real-time dashboards for decision making.
• Develop, automate, and integrate data records, including CSV, pivot and other data files with automating team processes (including working with DARPA’s IT team) to improve data quality and data consistency.
• Develop, design, and maintain financial and business dashboards for team members and leadership for portfolio management and allocation, financial and business reporting for operational excellence, and developing reports for DIRO, Congress, and other stakeholders.
• Analyze, summarize, and communicate the business and financial content of financial investors for DoD science and engineer “lay” audiences quickly and effectively.
• Develop data sharing systems with existing DARPA IT system integration for economic NIST performance study and for data-sharing, including compliance and analytics with R&E including the Office of Strategic Capital (OSC).
• Leverage best practices, efficiencies, and team adoption of utilizing dashboards with quality data to measure performance, improve operations, and engagement with private sector investors.
• Responsible for data QA/data processes including communicating/training of new team members.

Requirements:

• 8+ years’ professional work experience which includes a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a venture backed start-up building and deploying business and financial dashboards for a variety of customers and investors, and/or 5+ years’ working as a business and financial analyst in a top Accelerator and or Venture Fund
• 7+ years’ experience and high level of expertise with Tableau or other BI tools for building, maintaining, and providing dashboards.
• 7+ year’ experience with Microsoft Excel functions such as macros and pivot tables
• 5+ years’ experience with data source identification/analysis as well as data extracting, manipulation, and compilation
• Ability to be a self-starter and work successfully in a fast-paced environment. Take the lead and provide support as a member of a complex, fast-paced, and cross-disciplinary team.
• Team-oriented, service-based mind-set, and knows and understands the entrepreneurial community with diverse technical and business backgrounds and expertise.
• Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize, and respond to quick turn-around requests.
• Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
• Secret clearance, and or the ability to obtain a secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred.
