    The Opportunity

    To & Scott, LLC is a fast-growing, multi-state CPA and tax advisory firm serving high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses, and family offices across California, Hawaii, Indiana, and Tennessee. We have the technical depth, the client base, and the infrastructure to grow significantly — and we are looking for someone who has already done it.

    We are seeking an experienced CPA who has built and scaled a tax consulting practice beyond $10M in revenue to serve as a short-term strategic growth consultant. This is not a staff role. This is a peer-to-peer engagement with firm leadership — a seasoned operator working alongside our team to help us see what we cannot see from the inside, accelerate what is already working, and build what is not yet in place.

    If you have done the hard work of growing a practice — built the systems, hired the team, developed the referral network, and figured out what actually drives sustainable revenue — we want to learn from you directly.

    What We Are Building

    We are in a strong growth phase and are focused on the following priorities during this engagement:

    • Scaling our tax advisory and consulting revenue beyond current capacity

    • Building and formalizing business development systems — referral networks, COI relationships, and community presence

    • Strengthening internal operations, team structure, and client service delivery to support growth

    • Evaluating service line expansion opportunities across our multi-state footprint

    • Preparing for a partner track hire at the Director level

    What We Are Looking For

    The ideal consultant has been in the position we are trying to reach. Specifically, we are looking for someone who:

    • Has built a CPA or tax consulting practice to $10M or more in revenue — and can speak candidly about how

    • Has personally developed business through networking, referral relationships, and community visibility

    • Understands the people side of growth: hiring, developing, and retaining strong tax professionals

    • Has experience working with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, or closely held businesses

    • Can work independently and deliver practical, actionable recommendations — not frameworks

    • Is willing to be direct, challenge our assumptions, and tell us what we need to hear

    • Has no conflict of interest with our client base or geographic markets

    Engagement Structure

    Format

    • Project-based consulting contract, initially 2–3 months

    • On-site in Laguna Beach, California — working directly with firm leadership and key staff

    • Engagement extensions and ongoing advisory arrangements are welcome and expected for the right fit

    • Scope will be defined collaboratively prior to engagement start, with clear deliverables and milestones

    Compensation

    • starting at $150-$200 per hour, depending on experience and scope

    • Project-based flat fee arrangements considered for well-defined scopes

    • Housing provided for out-of-area candidates relocating temporarily to Laguna Beach

    • All reasonable business expenses covered
