    Job Description

    Join Our Strategic Transportation Planning Team!

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced transportation planning professional to support and lead a variety of high-impact initiatives with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). This part-time role includes strategizing and coordinating business development efforts for strategic general services consulting, managing and delivering on awarded task orders in strategic, modal, and operational planning, and supporting grant application and implementation efforts. You’ll work closely with NCDOT decision-makers and planning staff, contribute to long-range and statewide modeling, and provide expert guidance on organizational performance and emerging technologies. Additional opportunities include supporting federal, state, and local transportation agencies, managing locally administered projects, and pursuing federal contracts.     • Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid- large-size projects.
    • Leads technical client relationships and plays a major role in selling.
    • Leads discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise.
    • Leads technical business development work.
    • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
    • Approves and signs off on work.
    • Leader in one or more areas of technology.
    • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule a to meet requirements on large, complex projects.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
    • 8 years of relevant experience in transportation infrastructure systems, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred
    • Proven experience leading technical teams on transportation infrastructure projects, particularly within state and/or federal programs
    • Strong knowledge of transportation systems planning, development, and implementation
    • Experience driving innovation in transportation planning through advanced technologies
