    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Make a difference in a young person’s life!  We are seeking a Licensed LVN CTT Instructor for our Nursing Assistant Class at the Laredo Job Corps Center in Texas. Job Corps is a federally funded, residential vocational training program for socioeconomically disadvantaged youth aged 16-24, with over 120 locations across the U.S. (www.JobCorps.gov). The part-time (LVN) Certified Nurse Assistant Instructor role together with our (RN) Certified Nurse Assistant Instructor/Director will provide tailored technical training instruction in the area as needed the basic principles of career technical training instruction in the area of Nursing to facilitate student program completion and credential attainment. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

     SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Assist to develop lesson plans in accordance with Job Corps training achievement records (TARs) and use a variety of instructional methods to support student learning and development of employability skills.
    • Ensure documented accommodations are provided to students as needed in collaboration with the Disability Coordinator.
    • Maintain discipline and manage the learning environment to ensure quality and safety conducive to instruction and learning.
    • Maintain strict accountability of students during the training day, take attendance each class period, and assist students to report to the appropriate class when needed.
    • Maintain strict compliance with data integrity standards in the completion of TARs and credentials and update TARs weekly as progress is made.
    • Collaborate with academic instructors to provide contextual learning and applied academic lesson plans.
    • Participate on the career management team (CMT) to evaluate student progress, provide regular feedback on goals, achievements, and career success skills and project students for completion. 
    • Support the Zero Tolerance policy and center Behavior Management Plan to promote a safe environment and report incidents to center leadership as needed.
    • Proactively reward  students for achievements and positive behavior and enters positive incident reports in CIS.
    • Participate on the center workforce council and network with employers to promote student placement opportunities.
    • Participate in the student scheduling process and recommend adjustments to best meet student needs.
    • Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property and adhere to safety practices.
    • Promote a harassment-free environment.
    • Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student’s personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    MINIMUM

    Post-secondary degree or certification, ability to instruct in the basic principles of Certified Nursing Assistant and Nursing home experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills. Information technology proficiency including MS Office.  

    PREFERRED

    Degree or certification in the area of instruction and three years of instructional experience.
