    Make a difference in a young person’s life!  We are seeking a ...position at the Laredo Job Corps Center in Texas. Job Corps is a federally funded, residential vocational training program for socioeconomically disadvantaged youth aged 16-24, with over 120 locations across the U.S. (www.JobCorps.gov). The ...role. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Assist Job Corps students to actively engage in a variety of recreation activities, field trips, sports programs, and leadership initiatives.
    • Maintain a safe, engaging, and positive environment.
    • Transport students to recreational events using center vehicles as needed.
    • Maintain accountability of students during recreational events and enforce behavioral expectations.
    • Provide direct service and support to Job Corps students with and without disabilities.
    • Oversee the student store/canteen. Monitor inventory and maintain accurate records of sales and expenses.
    • Order and issue materials, supplies, films, and game equipment.
    • Develop and operates weekday and weekend game activities. 
    • Assist in cecenter-sponsoredrips and events.
    • Coach teams engaged in center-sponsored activities on- and off-center.
    • Provide opportunities for students in the creative arts.
    •  Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect students’ personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

    Associate of arts degree or one year of related experience working with youth. Current CPR/First

    Aid/AED certification. Excellent verbal, and written communication skills. High level of conflict-resolution

    skills. Effective relationship-building skills with students and staff. Information technology proficiency

    including MS Office. A valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record

    is required.

    PREFERRED

    Post-secondary degree and one year of experience in a recreational and/or sports program with a

    community-based organization, school, or similar environment. Certified lifeguard.
