JOB OVERVIEW:

The Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist is responsible for ensuring patients’ healthcare benefits cover required procedures for Alliance Family of Companies (AFC).

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Verify eligibility and benefits on all patient referrals

· Obtain verbal and written authorizations for planned medical treatment from appropriate source

· Ensure all referrals are received and necessary requirements are met for all required procedures

· Validate insurance information accuracy completeness, resolving discrepancies as needed

· Coordinate with referring offices as necessary for complete patient information

· Communicate any and all financial responsibilities and additional information necessary for processing insurance to the patient

· Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· 2+ years of insurance verification experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Previous experience in using an EMR system

· Experience in dealing with third party payor sources

· Knowledge of navigating insurance processes, and interpretation of EOB

· Ability to communicate effectively with referral sources, staff, patients and insurance companies

· Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

· Strong written and oral communications skills

· Ability to multi-task and be highly organized

· Able to work independently, with minimal supervision
