    LOCATION NEW YORK, NEW YORK  - IN STUDIO OFFICE. 

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Studio Assistant is the go-to person in the studio for all things. They have a passion for photography personally and or professionally, they have a sound technical knowledge of power, lighting, and computer systems. The Studio Assistant will set up, break down, maintain, and fix equipment, they will assist the Studio Manager in operational planning with regard to studio space, set types and staff scheduling. They will be accountable for studio organization and cleanliness. This position will also assist in functional studio duties such as ordering catering, and supplies and ensuring safety and security procedures are followed.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    · Coordinating with the Studio Manager to set up and maintain the studio 

    · Studio general maintenance, cleaning, organization as well as safety and security.

    · Maintaining photo & video sets – Painting, cleaning, equipment checks

    · Organizing, unpacking, and setting up camera and lighting equipment at external locations.

    · Light maintenance of equipment and or coordinating repairs

    · Coordinating rental of supplemental photography equipment

    · Familiarity with professional cameras and lighting equipment. Passion for Gear.

    · Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.

    · May assist a Photographer 3 and Studio Manager on production sets and studio maintenance.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 

    · Some experience as a photographer, videographer, or as assistant in a studio environment.

    · Comfort and experience in assisting a photographer on a photography set

    · Experience in utilizing production workflow management tools a plus  e.g., Shotflow.Basics in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere

    · Experience with Capture One, Canon, PhaseOne, and Profoto lighting a plus. 

    · Entry-level skill in Microsoft Office software programs, specifically Word and Excel (Within Excel, the candidate should be able at a minimum to execute a search, sort a list by applying multiple filter settings, populate a new column of data in an existing spreadsheet, and manage file conversions among CSV and text-based files to Excel

    · Experience in basic computer connectivity, troubleshooting and/or physical equipment repair is a plus.

    · Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring seamless execution through stellar organizational and time management skills.

    · Strong attention to detail with the ability to focus on a repetitive task and consistently accurate data entry.

    · Solves non-routine problems in collaboration with his or her manager; takes the initiative to modify procedures and processes as appropriate and makes contributions that impact work team results.

    · Demonstrated planning skills and the ability to prioritize using information around due dates, clients, internal resource skill sets, and when to escalate for assistance and awareness.

    · Ability to work both independently and within a changing team.

    · Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedules.

    · Is respectful and courteous when interacting with others; a calm and collaborative demeanor is expected when working through conflict.

    · Must have proficient basic math skills and the ability to read, write, and speak English.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    · Ability to stand and work on a cement studio floor for up to a full workday.

    · Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e. keyboarding, data entry, sample tagging).

    · Must be able to see and hear to gather and input information; respond to face-to-face and telephone inquiries.

    · Must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing a maximum of 50 lbs.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
