    BARBACK POSITION SUMMARY

    Barbacks are responsible for providing bar supplies as needed and maintaining a clean, well-organized work area in a fast-paced work environment.. This includes learning all food, cocktail, beer, and wine lists to better assist our Guests as needed. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented and personable.

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    (The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all inclusive for specific positions.)

    Set up bars for operation in accordance to all checklists.

    Performs opening/running/closing side duties according to Gold Spike policies.

    Support Bartenders' needs and maintains the bar stock of liquor, mixers, beer, bottled water, supplies, garnishes, ice, and glassware.

    Interact with Guests in a manner which makes them feel comfortable and welcome.

    Report any maintenance problems to Management.

    Work in assigned location and shift according to department needs.

    Break down corrugated cardboard boxes for recycling.

    Monitor proper par levels of all supplies at assigned bars.

    Communicate any problems or situations detrimental to property to immediate management.

    Maintain bar cleanliness in accordance with health department standards.

    Follow and assist in the sequence of service specific to the department.

    Inspect and maintain areas for which responsible.

    Review and comprehend all necessary documentation.

    Responsible for the security and timely return of all assigned keys.

    Follow the sequence of service specific to the department (if applicable).

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Must be able to:

    Withstand prolonged walking, standing, bending, pushing, climbing and kneeling.

    Work indoors and outdoors and be exposed to environmental factors such as excessive noise, seasonal heat and cold, hard to reach and unclean work areas, cigarette smoke, and hazardous materials and equipment.

    Use the equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to point-of-sales terminals, carts, dish machines, key systems and all bar equipment.

    Lift up to 50 pounds of ice, garbage or bar supplies; lift kegs weighing approximately 200 pounds (with another Team Members assistance), and moving carts weighing in excess of 400 pounds throughout shift (with another Team Members assistance).

    Effectively and efficiently move around bar area.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Excellent Guest service skills and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.

    Professional appearance and demeanor.

    Must be over 21 years of age.

    Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.

    Excellent oral communication skills.

    Ability to work weekends, holidays and a variety of shifts.

    Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

    Must be able to obtain and upkeep any required work cards (Health/Sheriff’s/TAM Cards).

    Must have 1-year+ experience (minimum) in the hospitality industry.

    REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

    In addition to the other duties described herein, each and every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

    Attend required training sessions.

    Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.

    Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages.

    Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department.

    Consult Standard Operating Policy Manuals for guidance.

    Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management.

    Reports to Lead Bartenders & Managers.
