Structural Engineer (Buildings)

Overview
An established, nationally recognized AEC firm is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its buildings-focused engineering group. This is an entry-to-mid-level role ideal for someone who enjoys technically rigorous work, values collaboration, and wants exposure across all phases of project delivery.
You’ll work alongside senior engineers on a diverse portfolio of vertical building projects, gaining hands-on experience in structural analysis, design, documentation, and construction administration within an integrated design environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Structural & Technical Responsibilities - Perform structural analysis, design, and calculations for vertical building systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Design structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry framing systems.
- Support permitting and regulatory submittals across multiple jurisdictions.
- Utilize industry-standard analysis and design tools, including:
- RAM Structural System
- SAP2000
- Enercalc
- Develop and coordinate BIM models using Autodesk Revit Structure.
Project & Collaboration Responsibilities - Assist in preparing design documentation, drawings, models, and specifications.
- Research materials, products, building codes, and sustainable design strategies to support design decisions.
- Collaborate with architecture, sustainability, construction, and consulting partners as part of integrated project teams.
- Conduct site surveys and document existing conditions.
- Support construction-phase services, including submittal reviews and site observations.
- Participate in cross-discipline professional development and internal training programs.
- Adapt to shifting project needs, contribute beyond assigned scope when required, and support overall team performance.
What We’re Looking For
Education - BS in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required
- MS in Structural Engineering preferred
Experience - 2–5 years of full-time structural engineering experience within a consulting or design firm
- Exposure to vertical building projects using steel, concrete, and masonry systems
- Internship experience a plus
Technical Knowledge - Familiarity with IBC, ASCE, and ICC codes preferred
Licensure - FE / EIT strongly preferred
- PE and/or SE licensure a plus
