    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer II based in Columbus, OH. This Structural Engineer will support a wide range of projects across industries including entertainment, commercial, industrial, government, detention, and parking structures. This role offers the opportunity to develop analytical and design skills while focusing on seismic design, seismic retrofits, and advanced structural analysis methods. The engineer will work closely with senior team members on large-scale projects while taking ownership of smaller assignments—managing design, analysis, reporting, and coordination independently. Daily responsibilities include preparing calculations and drawings, authoring structural reports and studies, coordinating with other disciplines, and providing construction administration support. This position is ideal for an engineer who wants to grow technical expertise while gaining increasing project management responsibility.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Builds analytical and design skills.
    • Project focus primarily seismic design, seismic retrofit, and advanced analytical methods.
    • Conducts engineering design under the limited supervision of an experienced engineer.
    • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the limited supervision of an experienced engineer.
    • Collects and analyzes data under the limited supervision of an experienced engineer.
    • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
    • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
    • Potential projects come from a wide variety of industry sectors including entertainment, commercial, industrial, parking structures, government, and detention.
    • Engineer will work collaboratively with more experienced engineers on large projects and be give the responsibility to lead/work independently on smaller structural design projects and tasks
    • Independently manage small to medium size projects

    Daily work includes:

    • Perform structural analysis and design
    • Coordinate work with other design disciplines and prepare contract documents
    • Construction administration
    • Author structural reports, assessments, and studies
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements :

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering and Minimum 2 years of experience in structural design with steel, concrete, and masonry buildings, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
    • Demonstrated experience applying all major structural design codes.
    • Demonstrated experience using 3-D structural analysis software. (Offices utilize ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, and SAFE)
    • Experience designing in Steel, Concrete, and Masonry
    • Experience with Wind and Seismic lateral design
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated experience in use of REVIT/AutoCAD to provide production support as a portion of team support and development

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master of Science (with structural engineering concentration)
    • Professional License in California (PE)
    • Experience with performance-based design
    • Experience with ASCE 41 for retrofit of existing structures

    $85,000-$85,000 per year
