    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking a talented Structural Engineer II to be based in the Boston, or Chelmsford, MA office.

    Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

    • Performs structural design for buildings and transportation structures and prepares related engineering calculations and structural modeling.
    • Building types may include but are not limited to commercial buildings, government buildings, rail stations and airport terminals.
    • Prepares structural analysis and Revit BIM models for various structures and coordinates with different disciplines 3D models.
    • Provides technical or operational guidance to graduate engineers.
    • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
    • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
    • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
    • Prepares technical specification sections.
    • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
    • May conduct peer reviews and make technical presentations.
    • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
    • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
    • Coordinates with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
    • Signs off and approves their own work.
    • May telecommute.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field plus 2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Previous experience in a professional structural engineering role
    • Structural Analysis and modeling software including two or more of the following: ETABS, STAAD, RAM, SAFE, SAP, RISA 3D, Visual Analysis, Perform 3D, and/or Abaqus;
    • Structural Drafting experience including AutoCAD, REVIT and MicroStation;

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience using Structural Design tools including TEDDS, SAP2000, Mathcad, SpecsIntact, spColumn, spBeam, spWall, and/or Enercalc;
    • Experience with with current structural engineering code and regulation, including CBC, IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, ACI 318, ACI 530, AISC 341, AISC 360, NDS and/or SDPWS;
    • Experience with structural building design including high-rise building, historical building retrofit, metal stud construction, steel modular housing, post-tensioned construction, two-stage analysis building, masonry building, and light wood-frame building.
