    Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector

    Pay: $31-38/hr. (depending on experience)

    Shift: 1st shift (Monday-Friday) with overtime on Saturdays

    Job Summary

    The Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections of fabricated structural steel to ensure compliance with shop drawings, customer specifications, and applicable industry standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining quality throughout the fabrication process while supporting the company's AISC-certified quality management system. Highly experienced structural steel fitter/fabricators with strong quality inspection experience are also encouraged to apply.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • 3-5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, layout, or quality inspection required
    • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes
    • Ability to accurately read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings
    • Experience inspecting fabricated steel components for dimensional accuracy and quality
    • Welding Certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with production teams

    Job Duties & Responsibilities

    • Perform daily quality inspections of fabricated structural steel in an AISC-certified fabrication facility
    • Inspect fabricated material to ensure compliance with shop drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards
    • Conduct both in-process and final inspections, verifying dimensional layout, fit-up, and placement of parts
    • Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 standards
    • Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality concerns and ensure timely completion of fabrication work
    • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation
    • Participate in annual AISC Quality Control audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
    • Promote and uphold quality standards while ensuring compliance with company safety policies
