    Warren Wilson College is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented individual to join our team as a Student Financial Services Advisor, a dual-role position that supports both the Financial Aid and Student Account offices. This role is evenly split between the two departments, offering a unique opportunity to engage with students and families throughout their financial journey at the institution.

    As a member of the Financial Aid Office, the advisor will assist students and families navigating the financial aid process through various communication channels including phone, email, text, virtual meetings, and in-person interactions. The role involves processing student documents, providing timely follow-up, and supporting key office functions. A strong emphasis is placed on proactive collaboration with colleagues across campus to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for all students.

    In the Student Accounts capacity, the advisor will serve as a primary point of contact for students and families seeking guidance on tuition, room and board charges, payment plans, and the use of the payment portal. This part of the role also involves problem-solving and delivering high-quality support through multiple formats. Other duties may be assigned within the Accounting office.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution OR an Associates degree from an accredited college plus two years of demonstrated customer service experience.
    • One year of professional customer service experience.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite including Excel.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse range of identities and experiences, including but not limited to students, parents, faculty, and staff.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • One year of experience in a higher education or administrative office setting.
    • Three or more years of professional customer service experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    As Financial Aid Advisor:

    • Counsel students and parents on the financial aid process.
    • Responds to email, text, telephone inquiries promptly and professionally.
    • Greets students and families as they visit the office.
    • Manages and processes financial aid application materials, correspondence, and follows up with students and parents regarding needed information on a daily basis.
    • Advise students and parents on eligibility requirements for federal, state, and institutional aid including the verification process.
    • Act as a financial aid liaison to campus partners.
    • Support the day to day operations of the Financial Aid Office.
    • Daily review of financial aid applications(FAFSAs).
    • Maintain student files.
    • Certification and awarding of the North Carolina Need-Based Grants.
    • Facilitate FAFSA verification process.
    • Process, award, and reconcile Outside Scholarships.
    • Use college technology and software daily including PowerFaids, Slate, and Jenzabar.
    • Assist Financial Aid Office Staff with projects as needed.
    • Manage the Financial Aid social media account and outreach to the student body regarding financial aid information.
    • Participate in the planning and execution of the Ready, Set, Go processes.
    • Other duties as assigned in the Financial Aid office.

    As Student Accounts Advisor:

    • Provides assistance to the Student Accounts department.
    • Handles customer service inquiries in regard to student accounts.
    • Responds to email, text, in person, and telephone inquiries promptly and professionally.
    • Communicates with families on various financial information inquiries including payment plans, due dates, insurance waivers, general account inquiries, holds, and balances due.
    • Smoothly directs inquiries outside of the student accounts area to the correct department for assistance.
    • Collaborates with other departments as needed when acquiring information to communicate or respond to inquiries.
    • Assist with the upkeep of the roster with accurate information including adding and removing holds as applicable.
    • Assist with monitoring payment plans and promissory notes.
    • Support the day to day operations of the Student Accounts/Accounting department, recognizing priorities during high traffic periods.
    • Use college technology including Jenzabar, Nelnet, Google and Excel.
    • Other duties as assigned in the Student Accounts/Accounting department.
