Sturdy Exchange is seeking a Head of Engineering. This role is responsible for maintaining the current application and developing new technical solutions. You’ll get the opportunity to build on the frontier of an emerging field and create NFT collection tools that will be culturally relevant for many years to come. You will also be responsible for growing and managing the engineering team and contractors. This includes defining technical roadmap, plans, and goals for the engineering team and helping them achieve those goals, while guiding engineers to develop their careers at Sturdy Exchange. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• You have 7+ years of experience in software development & delivery

• You have 2+ years experience building DApps on a major blockchain 

• Familiarity with working with AWS services such as AWS Lambda, EC2, ECS, ECR, Cloudfront and and S3

• Proficient understanding of the blockchain ecosystem including knowledge of virtual machines, smart contracts, blockchain architecture etc.

• Experience establishing successful partnerships with key stakeholders such as product managers, project managers, and business owners

• Effective people management experience

• Familiarity integrating APIs and third-party services, and understanding the potential pitfalls

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain Sturdy Exchange backend in Java, Spring Boot, AWS cloud architecture, Kafka, React, and NodeJS

• Create and evolve a structure and organization design for your team

• Make hiring plans and hiring decisions

• Give frequent feedback and coaching to your team members, coordinating with people from around the company to get a full understanding of your team’s performance

• Provide a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for your team to execute on its priorities and evolve its capabilities over time

• Communicate at all levels from senior leaders to individual contributors, including technical and non-technical audiences

• Effectively resolve ambiguity, helping the team to analyze complex requirements and break down features and initiatives into tasks
