    TRADEMARK PARALEGAL

    Styskal, Wiese & Melchione, LLP (“SW&M”) is a progressive, transactional based, boutique law firm with 14 attorneys. Dedicated to representing hundreds of credit unions and other financial institutions nationwide, SW&M offers its clients unsurpassed expertise, service, and exceptional counsel on the broad range of issues affecting the banking and financial industry. The firm’s practice areas encompass a full range of legal representation, including issues related to corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment, insurance, mergers and acquisitions, executive compensation, real estate, technology contracts, intellectual property, member accounts, and chartering and field of membership.

    SW&M is seeking a paralegal with 2+ years of experience related to trademark registration and docket management. The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented, fast-learner, and creative problem solver.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Assist with all aspects of trademark registration, maintenance, and renewals

    · Assist with trademark clearance searches using TESS, other commercial trademark databases (i.e. state trademark databases), web search engines, and other tools

    · Support trademark prosecution efforts, including communicating with clients to gather evidence, respond to Office Actions, and conducting searches on TTAB

    · Managing online docketing system and deadlines related to docket management

    · Organize, manage, and file corporate filings (e.g. Fictitious Business Name filings)

    · Directly assist and support several attorneys including management of calendar for all appointments and meetings

    · Edit, format, proofread, redline, compare, and transmit legal documents

    · Other responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    · 2+ years of experience preparing and filing documents with USPTO

    · Experience with trademark registration and maintenance including the USPTO’s forms, database, and website

    · Experience with DocketTrak or exposure to other docketing software is preferred

    ​EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

    · Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate

    · Must be a team player with a strong work ethic and excellent administrative, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

    · Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and clearly and professionally communicate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

    · Advanced working knowledge of Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat

    · Proficient with document redlining (track changes) and comparing within Microsoft Office

    · Excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills

    · Willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges in a fast-paced environment

    · Able to work under pressure with tight deadlines, remain flexible and be able to work late if needed, and continue to be proactive, resourceful and efficient
