    Smoky Mountain Deck Builders is seeking an experienced Trade Partner / Subcontractor crew to support outdoor living construction projects throughout the greater Knoxville area and surrounding counties. This opportunity is not intended for the hire of one individual employee. We are looking for an established construction crew of three or more team members, led by an experienced crew lead who can manage day-to-day field execution, maintain quality standards, communicate clearly, and keep projects moving efficiently. The ideal trade partner will have strong experience in outdoor living construction, including decks, docks, pergolas, screen rooms, sunrooms, roofing, and related exterior structures. This crew must be able to read plans thoroughly and accurately, build according to scope, follow safety and compliance standards, and consistently deliver clean, professional workmanship. Trade partners must be able to provide proof of general liability insurance and workers’ compensation insurance. Compensation- Compensation is based on project scope, trade partner qualifications, and agreed-upon contract terms. Responsibilities: • Field Execution: Manage daily construction activities for deck, dock, and outdoor living projects from start through closeout. • Crew Leadership: Provide an experienced crew lead who can direct a crew of three or more workers, coordinate tasks, and maintain jobsite productivity. • Safety: Enforce PPE, housekeeping, and safe work practices; stop work when unsafe conditions are present. • Quality: Build according to plans, scope, specifications, and company standards; verify layout, dimensions, materials, and installation details to prevent rework. • Plan Reading: Review and interpret project plans thoroughly and accurately before and during construction. • Production Schedule: Plan daily work, coordinate sequencing, identify constraints, and keep projects progressing on schedule. • Coordination: Manage crew activities, deliveries, inspections, site access, logistics, and communication with the Smoky Mountain Deck Builders team. • Communication: Provide timely updates regarding progress, risks, delays, questions, and field-driven changes. • Documentation: Submit jobsite photos, daily notes, and project updates through JobTread or the company’s designated system. • Punch and Closeout: Complete punch list items, final cleanup, and turnover preparation to ensure each project is finished professionally. Qualifications: • Established construction crew of three or more team members with a designated, experienced crew lead. • The crew lead must have ample construction field experience and proven job-site leadership ability. • Strong knowledge of outdoor living construction, including decks, docks, pergolas, screen rooms, sunrooms, roofing, and related exterior builds. • Ability to read plans thoroughly and accurately, measure correctly, and execute work according to scope and specifications. • Strong commitment to quality, safety, compliance, and professional workmanship. • Reliable communication, organization, accountability, and problem-solving skills. • Comfort using mobile documentation tools such as JobTread or similar systems. • Ability to work in Knoxville, TN, and surrounding counties. • Must provide proof of general liability insurance and workers’ compensation insurance. • Must have dependable transportation, tools, and equipment needed to perform the work.
