Job Description
Subiaco Academy is looking for educators who are committed to teaching in an independent, Catholic, boarding school, single-sex education environment, particularly an individual for English/Language Arts instruction beginning in August of 2022. Candidates must have the desire to become part of a boarding school culture which includes not only responsibilities in the classroom, but also some dormitory supervision, advising, and/or coaching as assigned.
The English/Language Arts instructor is responsible for teaching in alignment with the goals and criteria of a Subiaco Academy education.
THE ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER WILL
● teach English classes ranging from 7th grade Language Arts to British Literature.
● work closely with colleagues in the English Department and throughout the Academy.
● create and update plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum.
● actively collaborate with the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students.
● attend all faculty and employee meetings and school masses, serve as a student Advisor, fulfill other faculty duties, and maintain good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
THE DESIRED CANDIDATE
● holds at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a pertinent field.
● has taught secondary English/Language Arts and demonstrates knowledge of pedagogy and instruction as well as flexibility and strong organization and presentation skills.
● has prior experience in independent schools, with a strong background in instruction.
● is capable of teaching all levels of the subject, demonstrating a mastery of current pedagogy.
● has outstanding leadership skills.
● is exceptionally capable in both written and oral communication.
● is technologically savvy
● demonstrates proven success at working collaboratively in educational leadership.
● is passionate about the chosen field of study.
● An ability to learn and articulate the mission and values of the school and embrace the Benedictine heritage of the academy is paramount.
SALARY
