    Overview

    This role provides senior-level technical, operational, and management oversight in support of engineering, construction, startup, and O&M activities for systems, structures, and components across nuclear facility environments. The SME-3 serves as a high-impact advisor to leadership, guiding project execution, ensuring compliance with industry and DOE/DoD standards, and driving performance across multidisciplinary teams.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Lead daily operations for engineering and project teams supporting design, construction, startup, or maintenance activities in nuclear facilities.

    • Deliver expert opinions on engineering, technical, regulatory, and design issues across high-hazard/high-consequence projects.

    • Manage and facilitate design package development, including 30/60/90% reviews, scope definition, and document deliverables.

    • Perform independent technical assessments and provide strategic guidance to project stakeholders.

    • Support planning and scheduling activities, including cost and schedule reviews (P6, MS Project, EVMS, etc.).

    • Interface with senior leadership, cross-functional stakeholders, and peer managers to report on performance, capabilities, and improvement opportunities.

    • Develop and enforce work standards, assign deliverables, manage performance, and lead process improvement across engineering operations.

    • Direct multidisciplinary teams in resolving complex technical challenges in and around nuclear facilities.

    • Prepare and present technical reports, operational analyses, and briefings for decision-makers.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree + minimum 10 years of relevant management/technical experience (or equivalent combination).

    • Advanced knowledge of codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks used in DOE and DoD environments (ASME, NQA-1, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, IBC, IEBC, etc.).

    • Proficient in project controls, cost tracking, and scheduling tools (P6, MS Project, EVMS).

    • Significant experience in engineering design processes, technical scope development, and design oversight.

    • Demonstrated leadership experience directing complex, multi-discipline engineering teams.

    • Strong problem-solving, communication, technical writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • Prior experience acting as a senior technical advisor or technical lead.
